    The exhibitions Urgent Conversations: Athens–Antwerp and Urgent Conversations: Antwerp – Athens are a collaboration between EMST and M HKA, a theoretical and visual dialogue, based on works from the collections of both museums, which includes more than 70 works structured in 22 topics.

    The condition humaine or tragic fate of mankind is powerfully conveyed in *Altijd nog hetzelfde spel op de wagen* (1973). In this work, this sentence is added to a photograph showing a group of East-Asian refugees on the back of a truck overloaded with household furniture. The word ‘nog’ (still) was inspired by the observation that the series of people on the run from violence is of all times and unending. De Vree with his family also had to flee, in their case from the invading German army on a hay cart in 1914.
